Voting: When, and where.
California is holding a Statewide Special Election on November 4th, 2025. There are two ways you can register to vote.
- Standard Registration Deadline (Online or by Mail): October 20, 2025. Mailed applications must be postmarked by this date.
- Same Day Voter Registration: If you miss the October 20, 2025, deadline, you can still register and vote in person on the same day through a process called "Conditional Voter Registration" (CVR). This is available from October 21, 2025, to and including Election Day (November 4, 2025) at any county elections office or vote center. Your ballot will be counted once your eligibility is verified.
How to register:
You can register online at the California Secretary of State’s website, click here. Paper Forms are available at county election offices (see Location Information here), libraries, post offices, or DMV offices.
Note:
All California Voters automatically receive a vote-by-mail ballot. Ballots can be returned by mail (postmarked by November 4, 2026) or dropped off at an official drop box or at a voting location by 8 p.m. on election day.
