Santa Barbara vs Hate
In collaboration with the California Department of Civil Rights and inspired by the statewide initiative California Versus Hate, 211 Santa Barbara County in Collaboration with Interface 211 Ventura County is thrilled to announce our very own campaign: Santa Barbara County Versus Hate. This exciting program is dedicated to fostering systemic equality and bridging social divides by championing services that uphold fairness and justice, irrespective of one’s race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or cultural background.
Teaming up with influential organizations such as Diversity Collective, the District Attorney’s Office, the California Department of Civil Rights, and Interface 211VC County, 211 Santa Barbara County is poised to make a significant impact through our Santa Barbara County Versus Hate program. These esteemed partners are at the forefront of advocating for the rights and safety of ethnic and racial minorities as well as the LGBTQIA+ community. Their involvement is instrumental in spreading awareness throughout the community and reinforcing Santa Barbara County as a welcoming and inclusive haven for all.
As part of the program, 211 Santa Barbara County in collaboration with 211 Ventura County has assembled a dedicated team trained to swiftly respond to reports of hate crimes across California. This specialized unit prioritizes the safety of callers, assesses the need for emergency assistance, and facilitates connections to local resources for both physical and mental health support. The team assists callers in navigating the process of reporting incidents and seeking legal aid from the Department of Justice and local law enforcement.
Driven by our commitment to fostering a safer community for all, 211 Santa Barbara County is actively working to raise awareness about the Santa Barbara County Versus Hate program. We’re excited to announce our plans to observe Hate Crime Awareness Week from June 16th to 22nd, 2024. This strategic timing coincides with both Pride Month and Juneteenth, presenting a unique opportunity to amplify awareness within racial, ethnic, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Together, let’s stand against hate and discrimination and strive to make Santa Barbara County a beacon of inclusivity and acceptance for every member of our community. Join us in this mission as we work towards a brighter, more equitable future for all.
