Medi-cal Access Program (mcap)

Descriptions
Provides pregnant women with medical coverage for a low cost with no co-payments or deductibles for its covered services. Coverage includes vision, dental, as well as substance abuse treatment services. Their newborns may be covered for up to two years. Also available to women who have other health insurance plans that:
- Do not cover maternity services
- Maternity-only deductible
- Copayment greater than $500

Eligibility
Must meet the following guidelines:
-Be a California resident
-Be pregnant when applying
-Within the income limits of the program
-Not insured by no-cost Medi-Cal
-Not insured by Medicare Part A and Part B benefits when you apply
-Not insured by private insurance (unless you have maternity only
deductible or co-payment of more than $500)
Application Process
Call or visit website for referral forms.
Note: Inform MCAP when baby is born, so that they can get coverage right away. If enrolled in MCAP, baby should be eligible for benefits from the date of birth and at least up to age one year, if living in California.
