Pg&e Care/fera Energy Discount Program

Provided by PACIFIC GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY (PG&E)

Descriptions

Provides two types of discount programs to PG&E qualifying customers.

  • CARE: The California Alternate Rates for Energy Program provides a monthly discount of 20% or more on gas and electricity bill.
  • FERA: Family Electric Rate Assistance Program offers a monthly discount of 18% on electricity bill only.

For Payment Assistance and Billing Plans, such as AMP or ESA, go to the PG&E Energy Payment Assistance and Billing Plans Program.

Eligibility

Based on income and household size or enrollment in public benefit program.
- CARE: Household Size / CARE Income Eligibility Upper Limit
1-2 people $42,300 or less
3 people $53,300 or less
4 people $64,300 or less
5 people $75,300 or less
6 people $86,300 or less
7 people $97,300 or less
8 people $108,300 or less
9 people $119,300 or less
10 people $130,300 or less

Each additional person: $11,000

- FERA: Household Size / FERA Income Eligibility Lower and Upper Limits
1-2 people $42,301-$52,875
3 people $53,301-$66,625
4 people $64,301-$80,375
5 people $75,301-$94,125
6 people $86,301-$107,875
7 people $97,301-$121,625
8 people $108,301-$135,375
9 people $119,301-$149,125
10 people $130,301-$162,875

Each additional person: $11,000-$13,750

Additionally, you may also qualify for CARE based on participation in certain public assistance programs:
-Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
-Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
-CalFresh/SNAP (Food Stamps)
-CalWORKs (TANF) or Tribal TANF
-Head Start Income Eligible (Tribal Only)
-Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
-Medi-Cal for Families (Healthy Families A & B)
-National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
-Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
-Medicaid/Medi-Cal, under age 65
-Medicaid/Medi-Cal, age 65 and over
