Sce Care/fera Energy Discount Programs

Provided by SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA EDISON (SCE)

Descriptions

Provides two types of discount programs to qualifying SCE customers.

CARE: The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program provides qualifying individuals and households of two or more receive up to 32.5% off their electric bills

FERA: The Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) plan offers qualifying families and households of three or more receive an 18% discount on their electric bills.

Eligibility

Based on income and household size or enrollment in public benefit program.

Effective June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026 income limits are as follows:

CARE: Household Size / CARE Income Eligibility Upper Limit

1-2 people $42,300

3 people $53,300

4 people $64,300

5 people $75,300

6 people $86,300

7 people $97,300

8 people $108,300

Each Additional Person: $11,000

FERA: Household Size / FERA Income Eligibility Lower and Upper Limits

1-2 people $42,301 - $52,875

3 people $53,300 - $66,625

4 people $64,301 - $80,375

5 people $75,301 - $94,125

6 people $86,301 - $107,875

7 people $97,301 - $121,625

8 people $108,301 - $135,375

Each Additional Person $11,000 - $13,750

Additionally, you may qualify for CARE if you or someone in your home participates in one of the following public assistance programs:

-Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance

-CalFresh/SNAP (food stamps)

-CalWorks (TANF)/Tribal TANF

-Head Start Income Eligible (tribal only)

-Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

-Medi-Cal/Medicaid

-Medi-Cal for Families (Healthy Families A&B)

-National School Lunch Program (NSLP)

-Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

-Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

-Upper Limit Calculation = 250% of Federal Poverty Guideline

Application Process

Apply online, download, print, mail application, or call to apply. Application is available in both standard and large print.
