Provides court for issues related to the recovery of money only. Small claims court has jurisdiction (the legal right to decide cases) in disputed up to $10,000 for a person, not a business or public entity which has a $5,000 max. No attorneys are permitted to represent either party. Forms for filing small claims can be obtained at any court location or on the website.
Claims over $10,000 must be filed as a civil case.
