Growing Grounds Farm

Descriptions
Provides minimum wage gardening work to people with mental health challenges. Farms are supported by private foundations and product sales. Employs over 50 people each year: growing vegetables, flowers, seedlings, and landscape plants. Employees work varying shifts, from 3-20, hours per week. Services include:
- Training in the agricultural and horticultural fields.
- Job-skills training in a supervised environment among peers.
- Opportunities for job advancement and increased responsibility.
- Enhanced physical, mental and social health through the use of therapeutic horticulture.
- An opportunity to meet with the on-site vocational specialist. Who can help individuals gain competitive employment

Daily contact with co-workers and an on-site mental health worker. To discuss work, socialization, or other areas of interest. As well as concern to the individual.
Eligibility
Must be an individual with mental health challenges. Potential employees are often referred through the Santa Barbara Department of Behavioral Wellness or another agency.
